Milkweed Bug - Oncopeltus fasciatus

Milkweed Bug - Oncopeltus fasciatus
Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, USA
August 11, 2015
Size: about 3/4 inch
Is this the small milkweed bug, or the large milkweed bug, and which stage might it be in? The plant is Asclepias tuberosa.

Moved to Oncopeltus fasciatus
Moved from ID Request.

Welcome to BugGuide and congratulations, Kris. This is the first Large Milkweed Bug posted on the guide in August for Kansas.

Well...
Thanks, but I'd be happier if they weren't out there all over the Asclepias. I'm also up to my elbows in aphids.

Thanks for the quick reply
The reason I wasn't sure about this was that the images I can find online, including here, all seem to show bugs that are much more elongated looking, not so oval. Thanks again for the help.
