Sphingid - Hemaris diffinis

Sphingid - Hemaris diffinis
Block Island, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
August 12, 2015
Size: 13mm
Early afternoon. After about two days without movement, I found it this afternoon having molted and resumed eating. 99 hours after transfer to host plant. First leaf can be seen almost completely eaten below current leaf. Light object on right appears to be head capsule. The rest of the exoskeleton was nowhere to be found. The molting occurred along the main vein of the leaf where a light patch of silk is visible in this photo.
