Restless bombyliidae - Astrophanes

Restless bombyliidae - Astrophanes
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
August 13, 2015
This fly was incredibly fast and it wouldn't stop beating its wings even when posing on a flower!

Astrophanes, probably an undescribed species (A. adonis doesn't have dense white hair on the frons).

Moved from Bee Flies.

Thanks!
Would you like me to try to capture this fly if I see it again? If so, who should I send it to?

Astrophanes
Nobody is currently working on these, but if you do catch one the TAMU collection would probably be appropriate, anyone looking for Texas bombyliids would probably check there.

Thanks!
I appreciate your information and suggestion. Thanks!
