Green Stink Bug Nymph -
Chinavia hilaris
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
October 7, 2004
My gut feeling on this is that it's a Green Stink Bug instar. There are just so many in the area and there are a lot of adult Green Stink Bugs in the area as well.

My pictures
I have taken the pictures but we are going to put them on the sight this weekend. All the pictures are of the caterpillar living on our tree. I don't know what kind of caterpillar it is. It isn't the wolly bear caterpillar. My brother thinks it is the lion caterpillar. If you have a picture can you tell me what to search?

It might be one of these....
if not, go to the search box and type in
caterpillar wa
that should give you a page of pictures of caterpillars found in Washington. Good luck!

The caterpillar
Yes! that is it! Do you know what it's name is?
Plus thanks for answering all my questions. Wait one more question! I want to know if it is poisonous because it has the little hairs in a circle that you talked about?

stinging caterpillar
I held the caterpillar last night but the hairs didn't sting me they just felt normal. Why is it like that if it is a stinging caterpillar?
Thanks,
Hannah

You're lucky
It sounds like you don't have very sensitive skin. The reaction of the person depends on how sensitive they are to that particular venom. This is similar to how some people will have bad reactions to poison ivy or poison oak, while others do not.
