Is this a Hadromyia sp -
Hadromyia crawfordi

I believe that this is a Hadromyia sp, I did get a male photo last year. This was the only shot I managed to take. Any other info would be useful, thank you.

You are right! You got the female of Hadromyia, maybe crawfordi. Just caught the same (?) species yesterday in California... Awesome fly!
