Oak Worm Caterpillars? - Anisota stigma

Oak Worm Caterpillars? - Anisota stigma
Bullitt County, Kentucky, USA
August 22, 2015
Size: 1 inch
There are a bunch of these on a swamp oak as you can see. They are doing a good job of stripping the leaves off the branches they are on. I am not really concerned too much about them doing any permanent damage to the tree because it is a good sized tree - fewer leaves to rake in the fall! Do they do enough damage to rise to the pest level?
