Curious spider - Rhomphaea fictilium

Curious spider - Rhomphaea fictilium
Hillsborough, Orange County, North Carolina, USA
July 31, 2013
Size: 8mm (body only)
Spotted this a few years back, have been completely unable to identify it, have never seen one since. I am including a bad image of the eyes to assist in identification. I also found the location of the spinnerets curious.

Moved from ID Request. Nice one!

We would suggest a male Rhomphaea fictilium

Nice find - Let's see what others think

That looks pretty likely
[For some reason this comment didn't show immediately, even though I got notified by mail about it.]

That certainly looks like a match to me. I went all through this site trying to find something even close, and I even knew the trick about using the eye pattern (which it appears to circumvent.)

Much obliged!
