I recently read that parasitic flies can take over up to 80% of an area's squash bug population. Seems kind of harsh for this bug...since the hatched larva kills the bug and then overwinters in its body, but I guess it's good for gardeners.

and...

..a Tachinid fly egg on the head (between the eyes). Eric enlightened us about this behavior when I photographed one over the summer with that conspicous white dot.

very interesting

I don't think I knew what those were before I read the comment on antother photo while I was posting these. Then I went back and counted and looked closer. I only found the eggs on two species...the Leptoglossus phyllopus (3 out of 8 had eggs) and one brown species that I'm not sure what it is had one. I thought 3 of 8 was pretty high...those flies must really be busy!
