Eleodes carbonaria obsoleta (Say)
No spines, and lots of E. carbonaria obsoleta have red down the elytra, especially in grassy great-plains type habitats.

Oooh, this does look like hispilabris...
And one of the seemingly rare red-striped ones as well! Nice find!
