Buprestid on mesquite - Gyascutus caelatus - Male
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA

Size: Approx. 5 cm.
For some reason, I remembered seeing this beetle on creosote bush, but later in one of the photos I realized it was on mesquite.

Gyascutus caelatus.
Usually found on mesquite in the late summer or autumn.
