Buxton, Traill County, North Dakota, USA
August 31, 2015
This specimen may be an example of Lithophane lanei (9893.1) The moth emerged from a pupa August 29, 2015. The caterpillar was found mid June and pupated the end of June. The caterpillar was a different color when found in the evening and a different color in the morning so it had gone thru an instar during the night. The image of the caterpillar was taken June 16, 2015 which was probably the last instar before pupating.
