Phycitini
Hi Marcia. As you suggested, I have looked through all the BG Phycitini images and thought that Homoeosoma deceptorium was the best match (e.g. and . I also looked through all Homoeosoma images on MPG and BOLD Systems and again H. deceptorum seemed the best match. According to MPG H. deceptorium has been observed in Maine, Vermont and Maryland - states that bracket RI. I think (without DNA) that's the best I can do. Many thanks for your help.

I haven't seen this one before so I can't help any more with the ID. There are several common Phycitini moths I saw this summer but none like this.
