Mompha
May or may not be the undescribed species I reared from
G. asprellum
in Massachusetts last year. Another undescribed species is known from
Galium
in California. If you find a mine with a dead larva, Terry Harrison may be interested in having it for DNA barcoding (of course, larva or adult would be even better).

Might be possible...
but to my knowledge no one has attempted it. I would imagine that the frass mostly contains plant DNA and the insect DNA would be in extremely small quantities.

In any case, the mine will eventually be en route to you - and I'll keep on looking.

Barcoding leafminer frass
When I met Nepticulidae specialist Erik van Nieukerken last month, I asked him about this. He said he has tried it with leafminers but hasn't had any success.
