Rhamphura altisierrae
Bernard Field Station, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
August 23, 2015
On Leafy California Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum var. foliolosum) in a disturbed area of recovering sage scrub mixed with non-native grasses (largely Bromus and Avena) at the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station. The host plant listed on the info page for this species – Solanum xanti (now considered a synonym of Solanum umbelliferum) – is found at the field station.

Identity confirmed by Robert Martin at Butterflies and Moths of North America.

This is the first report to BugGuide for this species from California, although both Moth Photographers Group and Discover Life show records from California.
