Haustorius canadensis

Haustorius canadensis
Block Island, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
September 5, 2015
Pereiopod 5, showing lack of dactyl. Dactyl (final segment) lacking in all pereiopods, a notable characteristic of the species. In this image, the basis is at the top, only partially in the frame; the carpus, merus, and propodus, in that order, are the other three large segments. The ischium is located between the basis and carpus and is just barely visible at the top of the image, on the left side. In the linked image of the entire specimen, the fifth pereiopods are easily visible at the left of the image.
