Small Fly

Small Fly
Shirley, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
May 28, 2007
Size: 1.5mm
I accidentally collected this when putting an orb weaver with a dead ant in a vial.

Moved
Moved from Frit Flies.

Moved
Moved from Acalyptratae. One can tell it is a chloropid by the lack of an anal cell and the enlarged, shining ocellar triangle.

Moved
Moved from Scuttle Flies.

NOT a phorid
this fly has r-m crossveins, no phorids do. This is an acalyptrate fly, probably chloropidae, but I'm not certain about the family because i can't see some characters at this angle. Hopefully Matthias Buck will give this a look.
