Evergreen Bagworm Moth - Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis - male

Evergreen Bagworm Moth - Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis - Male
Parsons Run, Duluth, Fulton County, Georgia, USA
August 3, 2004
Attracted to my backyard mercury vapor lamp. It's interesting that they initially do have scales on the wings, but they get rubbed off while wriggling free from their larval case.

I base this identification on what I compiled for the Guide Page.

bagworm
Neat moth. I will be on the look out for one.
About how big?

Not big at all
Given the size of the bags, I'd have thought it would be bigger. I didn't note the exact size on this one, but I'd guess less than an inch long. Some general measurements can be found on the guide page.
