8651 – Detracted Owlet Moth - Lesmone aenaria

8651 – Detracted Owlet Moth - Lesmone aenaria
National Butterfly Center, Hildago County, Texas, USA
October 30, 2014
Thanks to Jim Vargo for the ID.

Moved to Lesmone aenaria
Moved from Detracted Owlet.

Det Don Lafontaine, "The dark band occupies well over half of the postmedial area, the subterminal line is wavy and sharp, and it is from Hidalgo Co, so I would put my money at 99:1 that it’s Lesmone aenaria!"

Lesmone aenaria?
Formerly a synonym of L. detrahens, Lesmone aenaria was returned to full species status in Lafontaine & Schmidt (2015) (after Jim's determination). L. detrahens may be out of range. It is found in Texas but may not get that far south.

Was the specimen dissected?
