Looks like from a Hornet, but I don't think they shed. Could it be from a Cicada?

Cicada

Yes, this is a cicada shell. The larva emerge from the ground and climb up whatever is handy where they molt into adults.

Agreed.

Lovely image, too. This is probably of the genus Platypedia, one of the few early-emerging cicadas up north there.

Platypedia

The dark middorsal stripe and wing edges are indicative of this genus, which does occur in dry valleys of BC.

Sorry but I don't think that this is a Platypedia exuvia. It looks too big. Besides, the black stripes are indicative of Okanagana genus. Probably O. rimosa or O. canadensis given the northern location.

Also, note the location the photo was taken, Okanagan Valley :)
