Eastern Carpenter Bee on giant Allium - Xylocopa virginica - Male

The carpenter bees love to hang around the Allium 'Globemaster'.

I'd like to document at least one of every kind of bee and wasp that I find in my garden just to see how many sorts of creatures turn up in my little patch of big city. This adorable guy was usually to be found doing loops around the garden and no matter where I was, he seemed to make an effort to buzz past my head.
