Two-tailed
You don't say where in TX but by looking at this guy I'm thinking west TX. This is a pre-pupil Two-tailed swallowtail - Pterourus multicaudatus. There is some other spellings on the species name. This is one of the most magnificent butterflies in NA. The extra eye spot between the big eye spots on the cats shoulder is not found in the Eastern Tiger swallowtail.

However - if there is Pale or Western Tiger swallowtails in your area - this could also be one of them. But most likely Two-tailed.

Yes - Papilio multicaudatus…
