Ochre Dagger or Triton Dagger?
Because of the rusty spot on the thorax I wondered whether this might not be a #9236
Acronicta morula
rather than an
A. tritona
, and I moved the image to the
Acronicta
genus page. Now, a few weeks later, I favor again
A. tritona
on account of the shape of the AM line: On the forewings of
A. morula
it turns upward (inward) at a right angle near the inner margin and continues as a smooth straight line until it bends towards the inner margin. On
A. tritona
wings the upward (inward) turn is at a right angle also but not as pronounced and the line continues in slightly curved and irregular fashion as it does on the moth here. (Edited on September 29, 2015).
