Hanging Cicada - Diceroprocta apache

Hanging Cicada - Diceroprocta apache
East of Hwy 85, North of Gila Bend, between mountains in Sonoran Desert National Monument, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
August 11, 2012
Size: 3" maybe, maybe larger
Went for hike in desert in unbelievable 115 degree F heat, and hundreds of what I think were cicadas had gathered in a tree and were buzzing away like mad. Without any fear, they let me walk right up into the branches and snap away. First time I ever saw one of these insects that close.

Moved from ID Request.

Just a guess, but it may be Diceroprocta apache.
Noisy little fellers.
