Tephritidae, gall on Thistle - Urophora cardui

Tephritidae, gall on Thistle - Urophora cardui
Wyatt Fen, Mitchell County, Iowa, USA
August 25, 2015
April 2, 2016: 2 beautiful flies emerged.
April 30, 2016: cut open the gall, 2 cells with spent puparia, 1 cell with dead larva
Inadvertent batch rearing.

Is there some way to search for gall AND thistle?
Is there some way to search for OR? Such as gall AND (thistle OR Cirsium).
Thanks very much.

You can just put both words in the search
search for 'gall thistle' or for gall Cirsium.

I did stop and think
before posting my question. I was concerned that the answer would be obvious. But in my wildest imagination I didn't suspect that it would be THAT OBVIOUS.
OK, so I'm new to Bug Guide.
Thank you (she said sheepishly).

That accomplishes "and"
...I don't think there is a way to do an "or" search using BugGuide's search function, but you could probably do it using Google (use Google's advanced search to search only BugGuide.net).

As for the gall, what about this?

Thank you
for the identification and the google search info.
Canada thistle is everywhere yet this was the first time I've (knowingly) seen the gall. (Of course google is everywhere and this is the first I've heard of advanced search.)
