Sharp-angled Carpet Moth - Euphyia intermediata

Sharp-angled Carpet Moth - Euphyia intermediata
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blount County, Tennessee, USA
May 16, 2007
Size: 1 inch wide
This one was in the lush hardwood forest of the lower Western Smokies. I took a second look as I was organizing my pictures and saw the interesting design on its back. It tickled a vague memory of death's head moth or skull moth or something to that extent.

Moved
Moved from Sharp-angled Carpet Moth to Sharp-angled Carpet (Euphyia intermediata). See comments here and info on species page.
