Cuterebra fontinella fontinella
Thanks so much for posting this one. Many bots have lek sites (ie places the males go to wait for females). So far for this species, C. fontinella fontinella, the records of mating are often near water bodies. But we really don't know if this species is lekking? So adds to the data on it. If you can find the rough spot on Google Earth I would love to see the location from the air. My email is boettner@psis.umass.edu I saw this bot last week 9/14 as maggots in white footed mice in Michigan. Bots were still about a week from emerging from the mice at that point. Great shot. Love the picture. Jeff
