Species possible?
I was already pretty sure it was Scaphytopius, and submitted the photo in hopes of an ID to species. Are the photos not sufficient for species ID?

Hard genus
Many look like this. From these photos, this could be in subgenus Cloanthanus. You will notice all the specimens submitted from
California
, none have been visually ID'd to species
