Size: 1 cm or so
sandy soil where stream has mostly evaporated (scattered pools still exist) surrounded by tall grass and scattered cottonwoods; for most part, running about in apparent random fashion, as velvet ants often do.

I'm sure that Dr. Ascher meant to move her down to the genus level. -- 6 abdominal segments = ♀
Note, the pointy abdomen lacks a pygidial plate and also, the dark-blue colored eyes suggest that this cannot be in the genus Tachytes.
