Stagmomantis carolina pair - Stagmomantis carolina - male - female

Stagmomantis carolina pair - Stagmomantis carolina - Male Female
Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois, USA
September 10, 2015
If a male and female confront each other, does the female [almost] always "win"?
I saw them in proximity to each other but I didn't see the encounter. There seemed to be no sparring; "she" seemed to immediately have him immobilized and helpless.

Nice Images, Thom
As to the outcome, the female has two things going for her: her size and the male's biological imperative; he simply can't stay away, even if it means his demise.
