Pupae and fourth-instar larvae (as well as some younger ones) collected from a pond-turned-mosquito breeding habitat. I think are at least two species in the image. That fact has at least been confirmed by a the emergences of many individuals of one species and at least one individual of another.

tell me a little more about the habitat
what kind of water?
how man made do you mean?
how deep?

It's a pretty small pond...
By my estimates, approximately five feet diameter and eight inches deep (refraction considered). It was clearly made to be a pond in a flowerbed stretching along the side of a building; a simple, round depression overlaid with a black tarp-like material. However, there are no ornamentation or filtration system, so the bottom is leaf litter and the water is stagnent. The water's color is a light yellowish-brown.
