Saropogon nitidus? - Saropogon nitidus

Saropogon nitidus? - Saropogon nitidus
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
September 26, 2015
Could this be the elusive Saropogon nitidus? I have been looking for this cool fly since I found it on Lepidium virginicum on August 10. Finally, I was able to see it again. This time it was resting on a dead twig of Seepweed (Suaeda suffrutescens), but this plant was next to a large stand of Lepidium virginicum (where I expected to find it). I wish I could have taken shots from different angles or maybe captured the specimen, but it was skittish and I had to take most of my shots from a respectful distance. It seemed to be aware of my camera and even when I tried not to spook it, my persistence was not appreciated by the little fellow and left so quickly I couldn't even see the direction it took. Sorry for writing a novella here, but my previous submission got a few in BG excited and I wanted to be as descriptive as possible.

Moved from Robber Flies.

Yes, this is Saropogon nitidu
Yes, this is Saropogon nitidus -- a female I think.

The species is over 10mm long (runs ca. 11 - 15mm).

Thanks!
I'm glad it is this elusive beast. Not easy to spot, not abundant. That's why I seldom estimate sizes. I better stick to reporting size only when I physically measure them.
