Bucculatricidae molt shelter - Bucculatrix anaticula

Bucculatricidae molt shelter - Bucculatrix anaticula
Red Oak Prairie, Allamakee County, Iowa, USA
September 25, 2015
September 25, 2015: collected Redroot, Ceanothus herbaceus, plant parts with leaves that had woven shelters on the underside
Opened a couple of the shelters to find what looked like a larval exuvium and a head capsule
By the time I sat down to look closely, found a larva and the next day it was spinning a cocoon
September 27, 2015: photographed some of the leaf mines
and these 4 spent molt shelters . There were lots of them.
February 18, 2016 (on or before): 2 adults emerged
March 20, 2016: (on or before): 1 adult emerged
