Large Spider l Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge l No ID - Neoscona

Large Spider l Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge l No ID - Neoscona
Sherman, Grayson County, Texas, USA
October 2, 2015
Size: about 1" long
Walked one of the trails at the national wildlife refuge and came across a large spider at work weaving a long web from one side of the trail to the other from the tops of two adjoining but parallel trees. As I prepared to photograph its activity it must have noticed me because it ran along its web to one side and attempted hiding under some leaves. This is what is being observed in the two images attached. We've seen this spider before but had not documented it until now. This activity occurred about 5PM in the afternoon in broad daylight. What is this spider's ID? Many thanks in advance for your assistance in solving our question.
