Cryptocephaline? - Cryptocephalus castaneus

Cryptocephaline? - Cryptocephalus castaneus
Malibu Lagoon Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
October 4, 2015
Neat bug...on Salix exigua in coastal salt marsh habitat. Looks like one of the difficult case-bearers, but seems distinctive? (fingers crossed)

Don't know what was going on with the abdomen, any ideas? I thought it was alive but maybe not.
