Robberfly ID request - Mallophora bomboides

Robberfly ID request - Mallophora bomboides
Bull Creek WMA, Osceola County, Florida, USA
October 4, 2015
I'm placing it in Mallophora and not Laphria because of the thin final segment on the antennae.

Moved
Moved from Bee Killers.

The other
fine Mallophora in FL, bomboides. The only species unphotographed in the catalog is thompsoni and that has a ? for FL. I am sure Dr. Fisher has the detailed info on that but I don't.

Thanks, Herschel, and...
... what gives me pause is the tawny tip on the abdomen. I've added another image which shows a slightly better view, cropped tight.

It is consistent
with that species. See quite a few other shots from FL showing this character.
