I found this moth's larva crawling on the ground, apparently looking for a place to pupate, on North Mystery Trail (Burro Cyn.) at 7800 ft. elevation in the Sandia Mountains within the Sandia Crest 7.5’ quadrangle, Bernalillo Co, NM. on 21 SEP 2014. I put it in a 1 gal. plastic bottle with a couple inches of crushed pine needles on the bottom (similar to the terrain it was crawling on). It immediately burrowed to the bottom and started to pupate. I left it indoors all winter, so it developed faster than normal (hence no official date cited above). It eclosed on 06 FEB 2015, and was shortly after killed and spread as shown.
