Colon oblongum - Colon

Colon oblongum - Colon
Oregon: Lost Woods Ct. , Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 31, 2015
Size: ca. 2.3 mm
This specimen was taken at a blacklight. The 4-segmented, non-interrupted antennal club, with apical segment smaller than the penultimate, appears to clinch it for the genus Colon in the family Leiodidae (American Beetles, vol. 1, Fig. 7.19). Further, the apical antennomere is paler, which, along with the dense pubescence, fits the species description in Blatchley (1910), pp. 283-284. You may wish to check with Stewart B. Peck for a confirmation. I thank Marci Hess for providing the images.
