mostly red underneath - C. cacti
This is not the best ventral photo, but both abdomen and most of the thorax of this beetle are clearly red. C. cacti is the only West Coast Chilocorus with this venter. Orange County is far enough south for the species (Gordon's map doesn't quite reach O.C. but it's extremely close). The larvae are also more colorful than most, similar to images of confirmed C. cacti larvae I've found online.
