yes - I don't think there are any other look-alikes
found as adults in autumn that this might be.

Noting the call is a good idea, just in case there are others. I don't think the Gryllus in Colorado have been very thoroughly worked over yet, but I only remember three species in that part of the world when I was a kid - G. veletis, G. pennsylvanicus, and G. personatus. The last one is often harder to locate, because it's more shy and hides in cracks in the ground most of the time; however, it's easy to hear the difference when males are singing, and long-winged ones often fly to lights, especially in late spring (it is at least double-brooded).
