Photinus sp. - Photinus pyralis

Photinus sp. - Photinus pyralis
n.w. Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
October 8, 2015
Size: TL 11mm
This beetle appears to be identical to those I keyed out as P. pyralis back in August, but given the lateness of the date, I'm not sure if this is the same or a different species. There was just this single individual attracted to a porchlight.

Photinus pyralis
This is P. pyralis, they occur into the fall as late as the end of October in Texas. Photinus fireflies are primarily the dominant genus you will see in the later summer & early fall. This firefly is most likely the offspring of fireflies seen in the spring.
