Erratic Cockroach in the Texas Range
A. investigata is not known to be found in your area.
The other BugGuide images don't seem match the images in the key for A. erratica very well, but your's does. Look here for a comparison. (click her for the Hippo Face!)
Arenivaga erratica: ♂ What do you think?

Thank you Bob!
I appreciate your generous help and insights Bob! The similarities are striking; especially the "hippo face". I enjoy when people focus on the morphological differences to identify bugs, but I am less enthusiastic when the species determination is based on historical geographical distribution data as the species range may fluctuate. My latest case: On 1/6/16, I submitted an ant that was kindly identified by James Trager as Solenopsis geminata. A humorous entomologist told me that those ants are not supposed to survive the winter in this region, but apparently my ant "didn't get the memo." As far as I know, this is the first report of the Tropical Fire Ant from west TX. It would have been a completely different outcome if the determination would have been based solely on the fact that this species had not been found in El Paso before...
