Pachypolia - Pachypolia atricornis - female

Pachypolia - Pachypolia atricornis - Female
Lincoln Township, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, USA
October 5, 2015
Came to moth bait. This is a probable ID by Les Ferge.

Platypolia anceps
This looks more like Platypolia anceps to me.

That looks better to me too.
Shall I move it?

I corresponded with Les Ferge about it.
He says that using the wing patterns to distinguish these two species in photographs is difficult, and it's not possible to use the antennae, since this is a female. P. anceps is a boreal species, very scarce in Wisconsin, and found only in a few of the northern counties. He compared my photo with female atricornis in his collection, and says it fits well with the way they look.

So I think for now, I'll leave it here.
