Larva - siphon - Culex

Larva - siphon - Culex
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
June 2, 2007
I'm actually not entirely sure if this (and the larval close-up) is of a restuans larva. Only pipiens have setae in paired or even tripled bunches (whereas they are single in restuans larvae), although I do not think that I've had any pipiens emerging. It's possible, though, that I caught pipiens larvae as early instars at the time of sampling.

Bak to genus then
Thanks for confirming my suspicions that this isn't restuans. Looks like I'm back to sit-and-wait for these larvae, though I recently found a female specimen among my pile of dead restuans which appears to be a pipiens. Will post that one soon.
Moved from Culex restuans.

you got
branched setae on your siphon, can't be restuans
