Senopterina (Platystomatidae)
In Shewell's (1962) key it runs to S. caerulescens Lw., which is common from Texas rather than to S. varipes Coq., which is common in Florida. A month ago, I could compare it to the collection at the Smithsonian, but here at home, I do not have a good Platystomatidae collection.

Different species group
Shewell only keyed the brevipes group. This has more extensive wing markings, and matches the description of the only North American species in Stone's 1965 catalog not in the brevipes group.

Moved
Moved from Pyrgota.

Spectacular fly
Appears to be wearing a gas mask.
