NOOB Spider ID

Sorry if this is in the wrong location, but I was hoping someone could help me out. I found this spider last night while pulling weeds in a flower bed. I have no idea what type of spider this is and was hoping someone on here would. If you were to ask me I would tell you it was a Terrantula, that is the extent of my spider knowledge. The picture does not do much for a scale relationship, but I can tell you that the outside dia. of the spider was ~ 3-1/2"-4" and the abdomen was about the size of my thumb. Any help with the ID would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If it helps, I live in southeastern PA.

Yes, wrong place:-)
"ID Request" is where you 'should' post inquiries like this. That said, this is a fishing spider in the genus Dolomedes, probably D. tenebrosus (lots of images in the guide pages). I agree they are incredibly startling due to their large size. Thankfully they are not dangerously venomous to humans. Nice to have around to control large pest insects like cockroaches.
