Cocoon wrapped in leaves? - Antheraea polyphemus

Cocoon wrapped in leaves? - Antheraea polyphemus
Baars-Firestone Wildlife Sanctuary, University of West Florida, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA
October 18, 2015
Found on Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria) during the fall BioBlitz at the Baars-Firestone Wildlife Sanctuary at the University of West Florida. I am wondering if it might be something like the cocoon of a Polyphemus Moth (Antheraea polyphemus - Hodges#7757)? Cf. this one:

Would it be useful to dissect it? Or try to raise it, if it's still viable?

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

What species of plant was it found on?
That might help to narrow down the possibilities.

Trying to find out....
The graduate student who organized the BioBlitz is supposed to be getting plant IDs (including this one) for me, but so far nothing. I'll post an update if I find out.

Plant is Yaupon Holly
The plant was ID'd as Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria).

a poly or luna is my guess.
shake it gently and see if it has a nice rattle to it, very gently. and sure you should try and rear it. just keep it at outdoor tempand if its gonna emerge it will at the proper time. don't put it in the sun.
