Bug nymphs -
Oncopeltus sexmaculatus
Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, USA
May 27, 2007
These very colorful nymphs were screaming "EAT ME!" to predators. Unless they're chemically protected... either way they're gorgeous. Ideas on ID?

idea:
the nymphs on your image are younger, but agree well.

If it is
a milkweed bug, then it would be chemically protected, yes? That would explain how they get away with being so colorful and sitting out in the open.

Yes.
In fact, they congregate in groups to re-inforce those "warning colors." It's like a group of stop signs all got together....:-)
