Another larva from gall on an oak leaf - Polystepha pilulae

Another larva from gall on an oak leaf - Polystepha pilulae
Baars-Firestone Wildlife Sanctuary, University of West Florida, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA
October 18, 2015
Size: 1 mm (intact part)
After dissecting this gall and finding a very small larva, we (Jonathan Wright and I) dissected a larger gall and found this larva. We carefully cut to one side to avoid cutting the larva, but alas, we chose the worng side and ended up with only part of a larva. It is, however, the expected orange color for this species.

Gall collected 10/18/15; photomicrograph taken 11/2/15.
