Stomatothrips? - female

Stomatothrips? - Female
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
October 17, 2015
I think it's the same species as this male found in August 2016 in the same half-acre lot.

The antenna and forewing patterns look like a very good match for a Stomatothrips sp., some of which have a "wasp waist" in the female. See http://anic.ento.csiro.au/thrips/identifying_thrips/Aeolothripidae.htm (text and S. angustipennis image). The forewing and antenna pattern seem to rule out Franklinothrips.

S. atratus and S. flavus appear to be the only two species known from Texas. More info here:

Stomatothrips would be a new genus for BG.
