Weird - this fly really looks
Weird - this fly really looks like Chalcosyrphus chalybeus, but they are a central US-east coast species (diptera.org: "Minnestoa to Quebec, s. to Kansas, Mississippi & Georgia").

Looks like Chalcosyrphus to me. There are a lot of species on the Checklist but this is certainly a gray area in Syrphid identification.
